Time: 9:00amPT/10:00amMT/
11:00amCT/12:00pm ET

Location: Blackboard Collaborate

Over the years, we have had presentations by many excellent educators who have shared their strategies and examples of global connection and collaboration with their students. In order to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world, young people need to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to engage in lifelong, cross-cultural learning and collaboration. More than ever, young people need the 21st-century skills for global competency, digital literacy, critical thinking and global collaboration among international peers. According to Anne Mirtschin, "Student's believe that they can solve the problems of the world. If we help them to develop a global network and teach them how to collaborate then they may well do so!” We are really excited to have Paula Fehlinger as our March Featured Teacher who will be sharing her stories, experiences and teaching tools for helping her students to connect globally.

Webinar Description:
Ready to break down the walls of your classroom and go global? Help students make real world connections to expand their world of learning. Learn how to use Twitter and Skype to make contacts and to participate in The Global Read Aloud, The Global Math Task Twitter Challenge and Mystery Skype Challenges on your schedule and at your own pace.

Paula Fehlinger has been with the East Penn School District for 19 years and has taught both first and second grades at Wescosville Elementary School. She received her teaching certificate from Moravian College and earned Masters Degrees in Classroom Technology, Instructional Technology and Instructional Media from Wilkes University.  Paula is a Keystone Technology Innovator Star 2016. She is currently working on becoming a Google Certified Educator. Paula is the second-grade level district leader at East Penn and serves on several committees within the district to support grading and curriculum initiatives. Michael Foster, Featured Teacher

10/7/2017

Michael Foster

Date: Saturday October 7, 2017
Time: 9:00amPT/10:00amMT/
11:00amCT/12:00pm ET

Location: Blackboard Collaborate

Our Featured Teacher shows are always really special, and we always look forward to hearing about the amazing things teachers are doing with their students! We are so excited to welcome Mike Foster as our Featured Teacher this week. This webinar will explore peer-partnerships and developing new ways to look at learning activities that infuse technology to change how learning takes place. Teachers learn to view me as a co-planner and co-teacher by establishing a trusted-peer dynamic.  Based on this rapport, we enter into a relationship that flows between teaching-partner and cooperating teacher.

We work together to break down exposure to new tech-concepts into manageable pieces where there is room for some personal-struggle to learn as an adult yet in a safe and supported way.  One tool we use to establish this dynamic is the “lesson refresh” concept.  Teachers self-select either a beloved lesson or a new one they’d be comfortable teaching that we use as the format for re-examining it from the lens of incorporating new aspects to teaching the lesson utilizing technology.

This session will take a look at some of the tools and strategies we use to leverage these close interactions to develop rapport both planning and interacting during the lesson as a foundation for future partnership in the classroom.

Mike Foster has worn a variety of hats in his more than 20 years in education. He has taught grades 1-8 in elementary and middle school before his moving into his technology-coaching role. Mike leverages his professional experiences with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards as well as involvement in state- and national-level assessments to help teachers reflect on their professional practice and create new paths for learning.

Mike and his family live in northern Colorado where they enjoy community outreach with several non-profit organizations. (This has resulted in a menagerie of animals in his household and connections to a rainbow of local connections that benefit children outside of school. Mike is an Educational Technology Facilitator for the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado, home to 20,000 students across 50 schools. The easiest way to reach out to him is to follow him on Twitter at @mfosterpsd

A Nation Without School Librarians Google Map
This map developed in March 2010, illustrates the number of school districts within the U.S. that have eliminated their certified school librarian positions.  Despite documented research that indicates the value of a certified school librarian to the academic achievement of students at all levels, the insanity continues in 2013.

Date:Saturday March 25, 2017
Time:9:00amPT/10:00amMT/

Location: Blackboard Collaborate

On Classroom 2.0 LIVE we eagerly look forward to hearing from our Featured Teachers who always bring their passions, and best tips, tools and experiences from their classrooms to share with us. We are very excited to have
Ken Ehrmann, a fifth grade teacher in PA, with us on March 25th as our March Featured Teacher. In this webinar we will have the opportunity to learn first hand from a teacher who took the leap to flip his classroom.  Personalized learning and flipped learning are two big buzzwords.  Ken Ehrmann will share his journey on flipping his fifth grade classroom to create a culture of daily personalized learning.  Flipped learning is just an instructional strategy like using manipulatives.  However, it may be the most powerful instructional strategy in education today.

Ken teaches fifth grade in Pennridge School District in Pennsylvania, a small suburban district outside Philadelphia.  In addition to teaching fifth grade, he spent the last 4 years tutoring over 50 different students grades 3-12 in all subject areas, time management skills, and executive function skills.  Additionally, he teaches graduate courses focusing on incorporating iPads and 21st century learning skills into the classroom. He is a passionate teacher constantly evaluating his own teaching, learning styles, and the status quo of public education.

Valerie Lewis: Featured Teacher

Date:Saturday December 17, 2016
Time:9:00amPT/10:00amMT/
11:00amCT/12:00pm ET

Location: Blackboard Collaborate

If you're feeling completely exhausted as you head into your Winter break, this is a "must-see" webinar to get re-charged and inspired to recapture your passion for teaching with our Featured Teacher, Valerie Lewis! This webinar will show teachers how to find their own voice and passions in order to create their own lane. During a time, where teachers may be facing criticism in the profession and burn-outs from overwhelming expectations, they will be encouraged to “ignite the spark” within themselves and spread that passion like a wildfire amongst others. The speaker will share examples of things that have inspired her and share how she went from concept and ideas to reality.

Valerie Lewis is an EDUPRENEUR, technology fanatic, a forever learner, and a DISRUPTOR of normalcy within education from Miami, FL but a 10 year resident of Atlanta, Georgia!  Valerie considers herself a natural leader with a gift and calling to teach all students. Her philosophy is that all students can learn once great strategies are implemented. Every teacher should always seek ways to challenge not only their students but themselves as well. This idea has pushed Valerie to build collaborative learning spaces such as: PasstheScopeEDU, Preparing Next Generation Innovators, Teacherpreneur Chat, EdObstacles and other community service learning projects which makes “giving good”.

We are excited to welcome Justin Schleider who will be presenting as our June Featured Teacher in this webinar!
Description:
Technology is changing the world. However, this isn’t a webinar about disruption. This webinar will teach you how to utilize technology to make better lessons as well as become a better teacher. I will show you how I use various FREE resources to create and execute a lesson that meets the highest levels of your evaluation system. In addition, I will show you how technology has taken me to the next level as a teacher outside of student contact time. We will discuss stakeholder communication, being prepared, organization, and where to curate new ideas and concepts.
Justin Schleider currently teaches physical education, health, and technology in Springfield Elementary School serving grades PreK-6th in New Jersey. He has been at Springfield ES for 5 years, but previously taught for 5 years at Mercer County Special Services and Lambertville Public School respectively. He is the brain behind #slowchatpe andslowchatpe.wordpress.com, which is the impetus for the slow chat. The slow chat consists of a question a day on Twitter and Voxer. He is also the co-creator of voxerpe.comand Voxer physical education chat, which has over 500 physical education teachers from all over the world. In addition, he was his 5th-grade chess champion and ate a full pizza at Pete and Elda's in Neptune, Nj for a free t-shirt.
