There are so many students doing amazing things with technology and we are thrilled to be having one of these students joining us for our show this week. Sydney Sheren is a 9th grade student at Westhampton Beach High School. She created and ran the Middle School’s newsletter and is currently the Freshman class President. Her passion for film making has led her to screen one of her movies at the local movie theater and to attend the New York Film Academy for the past two summers. She inspired to teach others why technology is helpful and how they can easily use it to learn in a quick, easy, and fun way.
Sydney was selected to be a keynote presenter at the Student Technology Conference in January 2015, and we were so impressed with her presentation that we invited her to come and share it with us on Classroom 2.0 LIVE. Sydney’s topic is: "How to Help Your Visual Students Learn Using Movie Magic.” In this presentation, we will be taking the under utilized application of iMovie and partnering it with other programs to make visual learning easily accessible in the classroom. By going beyond iMovie we are teaching students how to use many different programs that can work together to create educational films. Students of the technology age easily gravitate to computers and the mediums that you can create using them. Once a student learns how to use iMovie, they can easily learn other applications like Garageband.
