We were so fortunate to have Adam Bellow, Co-Founder of Breakout EDU, as our special guest presenter in April 2017 to introduce us to some of the amazing features of Breakout EDU. That inspired all of us to want to learn more about these incredible games, and today we are thrilled to have the creative and inspiring, Patti Harju, with us to teach us the "ins and outs" of designing our own Breakout EDU Games! Breakout EDU is an immersive games platform for learners of all ages. In Breakout EDU games, players work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box. Learn more about Breakout EDU, explore how the story and connected clues are the secret to engaging players, and discover the many different kinds of clues to bring out the game maker within. Visit breakoutedu.com for more information.
Patti Harju is the Director of Games for Breakout EDU. In this role she has written games published on the Breakout EDU website, reviews and publishes games submitted by the Breakout EDU Community, and facilitates workshops on Game Design. Prior to this adventure, she was a classroom teacher with over 20+ years of experience teaching in the elementary grades. She holds a Masters in Education and a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Math and Reading. She is a past Board Member for the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) and Discovery Education STAR Educator. She has presented workshops on Technology Integration, Classroom Blogging, Coding, Gamification and more at many local and state level events. In the summer, she also enjoys the many delicious advantages of co-owning Pinkie’s Ice Cream Shop in her hometown.
